A 58-year-old Wayne woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving, following a five-vehicle crash that critically injured a 9-year-old boy Wednesday.
According to police, a Mercedes-Benz GLK 350 - driven by Gina D'Amario-Aubin - was heading east on Ratzer Road sometime around 6 p.m. when she rear-ended a Toyota Sienna from behind, pushing it into three other vehicles at the intersection of Alps Road.
D'Amario-Aubin's vehicle went off the road and came to a stop in an area driveway.
The Sienna, which sustained major rear-end damage, was occupied by a 9-year-old boy who sustained critical injuries. There was no additional information whether any other occupants or drivers sustained any injuries.
Further investigation, determined D'Amario-Aubin displayed signs of impairment and was ultimately charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.
The crash remain under investigation by the Wayne Police Traffic Bureau. Anyone with information on the crash or witnesses are asked to call the investigators at 973-633-3520.
