Authorities in Newark are requesting the public’s assistance identifying the suspects in the picture wanted in connection with the theft of four black 4-door Range Rover Evoque HSE’s from the Hertz Rental Car lot at 900 Doremus Avenue.
According to police, at approximately 2:15 a.m., police responded to a burglary alarm at the location.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects arrived in two black cars, a BMW and Acura TL, both of which were reported stolen.
Police said at least four individuals entered the Hertz lot and stole the Range Rovers by driving them over the spike strips. One of the stolen vehicles was immediately recovered just outside the lot with all its tires flattened. Another of the stolen vehicles was located in the 100-block of Ridgewood Avenue. That vehicle also had one of its tires flattened. Two of the stolen vehicles remain at large.
The suspects are described as masked black males. The first is believed to be in his mid-20’s, approximately 5’4” tall and of a medium build. He has shoulder length dreadlocks and was wearing a red jacket with white stripped sleeves and blue jeans.
The second suspect is described as approximately 6’ tall, with a thin build. He was wearing gloves, a gray hooded sweater, black jacket and dark pants.
The third suspect is also described as a thin male.
While police are actively searching for these suspects, we seek the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing them from our streets.
