Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose have announced that authorities seized marijuana, a firearm and a large amount of US currency during a narcotics operation in Newark and Orange, NJ on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.
Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Narcotics Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, have been investigating narcotics activity at residences on Lennox Street in Newark and Lincoln Avenue in Orange.
Detectives executed search warrants at both residences on Tuesday evening.
Detectives seized a quantity of marijuana, packaged for distribution, a rifle and more than $8,000 in US currency.
Detectives arrested Tashon Robinson, age 30, of Newark during the law enforcement operation.
Robinson has been charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Robinson has been lodged in the Essex County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing in Essex County Superior Court, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, who added that the investigation is continuing.
