A massive early morning fire that destroyed as many as seven structures in Ocean Grove is under investigation
According to Neptune Township Police Captain Michael McGhee, firefighters responded to the vacant Warrington Rest Home where the fire is believed to have started shortly before 5:15 a.m.
The fast-moving fire damaged a total of seven structures, the Warrington Rest Home, LaPierre Condominiums, the Marlboro condominium building and three single family homes, officials added.
There were no injuries reported amongst the occupants of one of the condo buildings and the homes, according to McGhee. However, two fire firefighters did suffer injuries.
Companies from Asbury Park, Neptune Township, Allenhurst, Bradley Beach, Avon-By-The-Sea, Middletown, Rumson, Wannamassa, Neptune EMS and the Monmouth County Pipeline provided assistance with the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Fire Marshall, and the Neptune Township Fire but there's a possibility that squatters may have been inside one of the structures.
