A car that crashed through a gate then plunged into the Passaic River in Harrison is under investigation.
Emergency responders rushed to the rear of an apartment complex on Bergen Street shortly before 2 a.m.
Arriving rescue crews found a vehicle partially submerged in the Passaic River and a visually distraught woman who identified herself as the driver of the vehicle.
According to preliminary reports, the woman was driving down Bergen Street towards the end of the complex when she became misguided and crashed into a metal fence.
The woman's 2015 dark colored BMW vehicle fell several feet down a hill and into the water reports said.
The woman managed to climb out of the vehicle then up a rocky hill to safety.
She did not suffer serious injuries.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
