A 65-year-old Hispanic man struck by a vehicle in Elizabeth this morning was rushed to the hospital after suffering serious injuries police confirmed this afternoon.
According to authorities, police and EMS were called to the northbound side of Route 1&9 near South Broad Street at around 5:15 a.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck at that location.
Emergency responders found the severely injured victim laying on the ground and began to administer first aid according to authorities.
The victim was taken to University Hospital in Newark where he is listed in critical condition authorities said.
The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
The incident remains under investigation.
