Detective Wheeler was a 33-year-old Bloomfield resident. He was decorated member of the department who started his career in 2007 and worked in the Department’s elite Special Enforcement Bureau at the time of his death.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating the circumstances to his death. Nothing suspicious at this time.
The Department mourns Wheeler’s unexpected and unanticipated death. Our prayers and wishes go out to his family members as we all grieve his loss.
Wheeler leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
