Police took at least two people into custody after an attempted theft of a flat screen TV at the Walmart on Rt. 22 in Union today.
According to preliminary reports, shortly before 11:30 a.m., police were called to store for a pair who was attempting to walk out of the store with a flat screen TV.
The pair allegedly showed the security guard a receipt for a Television that was purchased earlier but came back to the store and attempted to take another TV.
When the alert security officer noticed that the TV was not paid for, he tried to stop the pair who then dropped the TV and jumped into a vehicle that was waiting nearby.
The car sped out of the store's parking lot and onto the eastbound lanes of Rt. 22 reports said.
Police canvassing the highway caught up with the vehicle a short distance away where they questioned the occupants inside the vehicle then placed two of them in custody.
The third occupant of the vehicle was detained, but it is not immediately clear if the person was arrested.
The incident is under investigation by Union Police.
