Newark South Ward Shooting Suspect Apprehended by Newark Police

Police in Newark are reporting that the Fugitive Apprehension Team has arrested Christopher J. Anderson, 25, of Newark, who was wanted for a shooting that occurred on Thursday, February 9, 2017.

According to police, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 21-year-old Newark man was robbed at gunpoint by a male suspect following a quarrel regarding a collision at Seymour Avenue and West Bigelow Street.

Police said the suspect then shot the victim, who was transported to University Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

Based on their investigation, detectives have determined that Christopher J. Anderson is a suspect in this robbery and shooting and a warrant for his arrest was issued police said.

Detectives arrested Anderson today (Wednesday) without incident.

He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
