Belleville Man Admits Killing Girlfriend Over Text Messages

Authorities announced that the 42-year-old Belleville man charged with killing his girlfriend admitted today he killed her when she wouldn't stop texting another man during a car ride home.

According to Essex County Assistant Prosecutor Carlo Fioranelli, during today's detention hearing in Newark, Lora-Pena told authorities that as they drove home from the Bronx, Pedro tried taking Diana's Boggio's phone but she wouldn't give it to him. That allegedly led Lora-Pena to shoot her three times.

After his arrest Lora-Pena ultimately led police officers to Boggio's Honda Accord, where he stuffed her body in the trunk.

Lora-Pena was charged with murder, moving or concealing human remains, and weapons offenses.

During today's appearance, Lora-Pena's attorney argued the charges should be dismissed because killing allegedly occurred in the Bronx and not in New Jersey, therefore court system lacks jurisdiction in the case. However, because Boggio's body was found in Newark, it was going to

Lora-Pena was ordered to remain in jail by Superior Court Judge Martin Cronin.
