According to authorities, at approximately 11:20 Chief of Police Jonathan Parham, Mayor Derek Armstead & Dr. Danny Robertozzi Superintendent of Linden Public Schools addressed the media regarding the ongoing lockdown at Linden High School.
Authorities said, shortly after 9:00 a.m. we received information regarding an Instagram post containing a direct threat to Linden High School.
City and school Officials were immediately notified, and Linden High School was placed on a lockdown. The school remains on lockdown at this time, and Officers from Linden and surrounding towns are in the process of searching the school officials said.
As parents, we understand the desire to protect their children, but we encourage them not to respond to school.
Parents that wish to respond can go to Cooper Field at the corner of Dewitt Terrace and Curtis St where we will provide updates as they become available.
Update: Lockdown lifted at approximately 1 p.m.
"This investigstion is very active, and for that reason we will not comment as to the specifics of the case other than to say have conducted a thorough search of the school and are confident that the students and faculty are safe." Said Chief Jonathan Parham.
Dr. Robertozzi and School Officials have decided to implement an early dismissal at 1:15 p.m. for Linden High School students. The school cafeteria remains open for students who wish to purchase lunch. After school activities will proceed as scheduled.
