Newark Man Arrested for Allegedly Attacking his Nephew

A man who was wanted for allegedly attacking his nephew on a Newark street then fleeing the scene has been taken into custody.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose, his Fugitive Apprehension Team took Sameen Hall, 29, of Newark, into custody for an aggravated assault that occurred on Saturday, January 21, 2017.

Director Ambrose said at approximately 10 a.m.; a 21-year old male victim was walking in the area of 7th Avenue and Stone Street when his uncle, Hall, approached him, punched him in the face and stole his cell phone.

The victim was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital for non-life threatening injuries Director Ambrose said.

Director Ambrose said detectives obtained a warrant for Hall’s arrest and he was taken into custody today (Friday).

Hall is charged with Aggravated Assault and Theft.

These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
