The Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Deputy Chief Troy Oswald announce that through the joint and intensive efforts of the detectives of the Major Crimes Unit of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the detectives from the Paterson Police Department, two men were arrested without incident on Jan. 26.
The two men have been charged for their alleged roles in the murder and robbery of 57-year-old Ruslan Magamedov, of Fair Lawn, which occurred on Jan. 23rd, while he was working as a gas station attendant at 1st Ave Gas, located at 81 1st Avenue, in Paterson.
Dennis Barrett, 21, of Paterson, and Jorge Martinez, 21, of Garfield, have been charged with Felony Murder, a crime of the first degree; Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, a crime of the second degree; Robbery, a crime of the first degree; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, a crime of the second degree; and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, a crime of the second degree.
If convicted, each defendant faces up to life imprisonment with a mandatory period of 30 years of parole ineligibility.
The defendants are scheduled to appear today, January 27, 2017, at 1:30 p.m., in Passaic County Superior Court before Judge John Meola, P.J.M.C.
