Police in Newark is looking for the suspect/s responsible for a violent carjacking that had the victim shot multiple times in a neighborhood in the city's South Ward last night.
Police were called to the 300 block of Peshine Avenue after receiving reports of shots fired with a person down that occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m.
Arriving units found a 35-year-old male victim shot multiple times at that location.
EMS rushed the victim to University Hospital where he suffered severe gunshot wounds to the mouth, arm, and chest according to reports.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was in the process of being carjacked when the suspect began to open fire, striking the him several times reports said.
Police are looking for a black 2008 Cadillac Escalade with reported NJ licenses plate numbers "U29-FYS" that was reportedly taken from the victim.
The investigation is active, ongoing and being conducted by the Newark Police Department at this time.
