Police in Plainfield took a man in custody and charged him with a late December shooting today.
According to authorities, on Friday, January 06, 2017, The Plainfield Police Criminal Investigations Bureau, General Assignment Section and Narcotics Section charged a suspect involved in a shooting near Leland and Columbia Avenues which occurred on December 6, 2016.
Police said **Cory Logan, age 25 of Plainfield, NJ** was in possession of a handgun at the time when he was apprehended on December 28, 2016, by Plainfield Police Division Narcotics.
After further investigation, Logan was charged with the following offenses: Attempted Murder (1st degree); Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (2nd degree); Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose (2nd degree). Logan is currently being held at the Union County Jail pending no bail police said.
According to authorities, on December 6, 2016, at 4:40 pm, Plainfield Central Communications received an alert from the ShotSpotter alert system, indicating that gunshots had been fired in the area of Leland Avenue and Columbia Avenue, Plainfield, New Jersey.
Along with this alert, Central Communications also received several citizen calls stating the same.
Police Officers responded to the area and discovered that a 23-year-old male city resident had sustained several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for treatment.
