A 32-year-old Belleville man accused of beating his ex's current boyfriend with a bat was taken into custody, according to police.
Bloomfield police responded to Willie Brooks' ex's home to visit his son when "derogatory" comments about Brooks' dog was made by the current boyfriend.
Brooks subsequently beat the man in the arm and head with a baseball bat leaving him with bruising and swelling, according to police.
He was ultimately arrested and charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon charges. Brooks was released after posting bail.
