Police Arrest Suspect who Robbed Man in Newark That He Met Online

Authorities captured a man who was wanted for an armed robbery in November.

According to authorities, members of the Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested **Taron J. Wooten, 22, of Newark,** who was wanted for a robbery that occurred on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

According to authorities, at approximately 4:30 p.m., a 49-year old male victim was robbed by a male suspect with whom he had been conversing online.

The victim and suspect agreed to meet in person authorities said.

After meeting the victim, the suspect left, and shortly thereafter contacted the victim, inviting him to the 800-block of South 17th Street.

Police said upon his arrival, the victim was robbed of his cash and cell phone by the suspect and a second individual who threatened to shoot him.

As a result of their investigation, detectives determined that Taron J. Wooten is a suspect in this robbery police said.

A $150,000.00 warrant for his arrest was issued by the Honorable Jude Nkama, J.M.C.

Detectives arrested Wooten Tuesday without incident.

He is charged with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Conspiracy.

**These charges are merely accusations. The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.**

This investigation is continuing.

The second suspect remains at large.
