Authorities have released the identity of one of two victims struck by gunfire Monday evening in Plainfield.
According to authorities, at approximately 9:40 pm, two individuals were struck by gunfire on the 600 block of East 3rd Street in Plainfield.
They were both rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery.
One of the individuals survived and remains hospitalized and the other, 18-year-old Manuel Berrios of Plainfield, was pronounced dead this morning as a result of the injuries sustained in the shooting.
This remains an active investigation involving members of the Union County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Task Force, the Plainfield Police Division, the Union County Police Department and the Union County Sheriff's Office.
