Essex County authorities are investigating an incident where the body of a male was found inside a park in Newark's West Ward.
Essex County Sheriff officers patrolling the Vailsburg Park located the unconscious and unresponsive male at around 8 a.m. near the Oraton Parkway side of the park.
Police set up a crime scene and are investigating the cause of death for the unidentified male.
There are no reports of suspicious activities at this time.
The park is maintained and patrolled by Essex County authorities said.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
UPDATE 11:01 a.m. The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed this to be a suspicious death and a cause will be determined by the medical examiner.
