A middle school girl who suffered a vicious beating at the hands of a group of males on Tuesday has police investigating.
The incident happened shortly after The Union Avenue Middle School dismissed for the day when a female student, around the age of 11-years-old, was followed, then chased down Laventhal Avenue by a group of boys when she became fatigued and stopped in the middle of the block.
Residents said, this is when as many as eight to ten males began to kick, punch, and strike the girl until she bled and became unconscious.
Residents remembered seeing about 20 other onlookers cheering the boys as they began to record the incident on their cell phones shortly before residents contacted police, while also running to aid the girl.
All of the males (who are believed to be students at the school) then fled from the scene, leaving the girl on the ground beaten and bleeding residents said.
"This was not the first time that this girl have been attacked" said a resident in the area who recalled other incidents where the girl was targeted and attacked.
"We have stopped kids from jumping her many times, even as early as 8 a.m. before school started today" residents said.
Several staff members from the school also came to assist when they learned of the incident according to residents.
The girl was removed from the scene by EMS.
Police are investigating the attack.
