Three Plainfield residents have been arrested and charged in connection with a beating and fatal shooting that took place in the city last week, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park and Plainfield Police Division Director Carl Riley jointly announced Friday.
Luis DelValle, 33, Mack Brown, 35, and Alishia Bryant, 44, have been charged for their alleged roles in the assault and death of 36-year-old Ronnell Harrison, also of Plainfield. Delvalle and Brown are both charged with first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, and two related weapons offenses, while Bryant is charged with second-degree aggravated assault and second-degree hindering apprehension.
Shortly before 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, Plainfield Police Division patrol units responded to the 700 block of West 4th Street in the city’s West End to find the body of Harrison in a driveway. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene a short while later.
An investigation involving the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit revealed that the victim was assaulted and knocked unconscious by the defendants in front of a residence in the area before being carried to a nearby driveway and shot to death there.
Bail for Brown and Delvalle was set at $2 million apiece by state Superior Court Judge Frederic McDaniel, while bail for Bryant was set at $200,000.
Anyone with information about this matter still is being urged to contact Homicide Task Force Sgt. Jose Vendas at 908-358-3048 or Detective Sean Holcomb at 908-358-8377.
