An investigation into a report of an armed male led to the arrest of a 17-year-old teen, police said.
According to police, on Dec. 12, Kenilworth Police responded to the area of Washington Avenue and Cross Street on a report of a male with a gun.
Upon arrival, as Ptl. Valerie Smith spoke with a witness, the suspect vehicle drove through the location once again.
The witness immediately alerted Ptl. Smith to the suspect vehicle, who then drove from the area in an accelerated manner.
Ptl. Smith notified other responding units of her location, as they attempted to stop the vehicle.
At this time, the suspect vehicle failed to pull over and a pursuit ensued before coming to a halt near the intersection of Newark Avenue and S. 22nd Street in Kenilworth.
The actor and sole occupant of the suspect vehicle was identified as a 17-year-old juvenile male.
The male was taken into custody at the scene by Ptl. Smith and Sgt. Anthony Giacalone.
A search of the vehicle, led to the seizure of a replica Sig Sauer 9mm handgun.
Police say a slew of other charges were approved and the juvenile was later sent to the Union County Juvenile Detention Center in Linden.
