Acting Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri and Trenton Police Director Ernest Parrey Jr. reported today that three teens have been charged with the June 2016 shooting death of 15-year-old Maurice Wimbush-Jalaah.
Murder and complicity charges were filed yesterday against Wilson George, 19, Jashawn Smith, 18, and Juprie Wadley, 19, all of Trenton.
According to police, at approximately 3:45 pm. on June 11, 2016, Trenton police were dispatched to Prospect Village on a report of a male shot.
Upon arrival, officers found Wimbush-Jalaah on the ground. He was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
Responding officers Jonathan Cincilla and Crystal Everett detained Smith and Wadley fleeing from the scene. They were charged with weapons offenses.
The murder and complicity charges are a result of an investigation by prosecutor’s Detective Nancy Diaz and the Mercer County Homicide Task Force. George has been incarcerated since June.
Smith and Wadley were arrested Wednesday morning in Trenton by members of the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force. Bail was set for each at $1 million cash or bond.
