A man who was wanted for a October carjacking was placed under arrest by police.
According to authorities, Omar Wright, 32, of Newark was taken into custody for an armed carjacking that occurred on Sunday, October 23, 2016.
Police said at approximately 9 p.m. on that date, a 31-year old male victim parked his vehicle in the area of Clinton Avenue and South 10th Street when he was approached by two suspects who robbed him and stole his vehicle at gunpoint.
As part of their investigation, detectives determined that Omar Wright is a suspect in this carjacking and a warrant for his arrest was issued authorities said.
The Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested Wright yesterday without incident. He is charged with Carjacking and Conspiracy.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The second suspect remains at large and the investigation is continuing according to police.
