Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Orange Police Director Todd Warren announced today that Stevenson Valentin, age 28, of Maplewood has been charged and arrested in connection with the murders of Marcus Milien, age 1 and Morlens Milice, age 21; and the shooting of two others which occurred on November 3, 2016 on Cleveland Avenue in the City of Orange, New Jersey.
Stevenson was charged with two counts of Murder, Possession of a Weapon, Possession Unlawful Purpose and two counts of aggravated assault on the two other shooting victims on the same day.
Stevenson was arrested in the City of Newark during a traffic stop by Newark Police Officers.
During this stop, the officers determined he was wanted for the Orange murders.
Stevenson’s bail has been set at $1,000,000 with no 10 percent by Essex County Superior Court Judge Richard T. Sules. His is currently being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark.
Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Quovella Spruill commended the members of the Homicide Task Force, Lt. Marquise Carter, Det. Manns, Det. Muhammad, Det. Mathis and Det. Greene for their hard work and efforts during this investigation.
These are accusations.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
