A shooting that left an Essex County man dead in Plainfield late yesterday is under investigation, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Friday.
The deceased victim has been identified as 36-year-old Al-Muakhkhir Kearney of Newark.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Plainfield Police Division patrol units responding to a report of an unresponsive male on the 100 block of Netherwood Avenue in Plainfield found Kearney at that location.
Authorities said Kearney was rushed to JFK Hospital in Edison, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.
This incident is now under joint investigation by the Union County Homicide Task Force, Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, and Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit.
