An overnight crime scene established in a neighborhood in Plainfield had authorities investigating a homicide.
Residents in the 100 block of Netherwood Avenue observed detectives at work attempting to determine circumstances behind a shooting that left a man dead in a community that residents said is "normally quiet".
Details regarding the incident is pending a release by the Union County Prosecutor's Office but late last night, police responded to the area after receiving reports of an injured person according to initial reports.
Authorities found the man suffering injuries after reportedly being shot. The man later died of his injuries reports said.
Long time community residents told RLS Metro Breaking News that the victim is around the age of 34-years-old and has children.
We are awaiting information form the Union County Prosecutor's Office as they officially release the man's identification which is pending family notification.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation by authorities.
There were no arrests immediately reported.
UPDATE 6:27 a.m. The Union County Prosecutor's Office have confirmed the homicide investigation stating that the incident originated at around 9:30 p.m.... There is an active investigation underway.
