A fast moving two-alarm fire that ignited in a house in Newark's West Ward is under investigation.
Officials said at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Fire Division responded to a fire at 62 Telford Avenue which quickly elevated to a 2nd alarm.
The building, an abandoned two story wood framed structure, was brought under control after approximately 40 minutes; although firefighter continued to douse the structure with water.
While battling the fire, one firefighter fell through the floor resulting in a mayday.
He was quickly rescued and continued to fight the fire, not being injured during the ordeal.
There were no reported injuries resulting from the fire with only minor damage to neighboring 64 Telford Avenue officials said.
