Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced the arrest of a 26-year-old Newark man who was being sought for Terroristic Threats and several Weapons charges.
Police said on November 23, 2016, at approximately 9:00 a.m., members of the Department of Fugitive Apprehension Team (F.A.T.) were searching for Dominick Carpio who was being sought for Terroristic Threats and Weapons possession charges in connection with an incident that occurred earlier this month in the city's South Ward.
After receiving a tip, Detectives saw Carpio driving a black Volkswagen and attempted a traffic stop activating the emergency lights and siren police said.
Carpio refused to stop and ran from the car after crashing into a fence at First and Roseville Avenues.
F.A.T. detectives and by Essex County Sheriff Officers located Carpio hiding in a storage shed, located in the backyard of a Peck Avenue home.
Caprio was apprehended without further incident and in possession of a Taser.
Capri is charged with Terroristic Threats, several counts of Possession of a Weapon and Possession of Weapons for Unlawful Purposes stemming from the original warrants.
He was charged with Eluding, Hindering Apprehension, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (Taser) and issued numerous motor vehicle summonses.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
