Police in Newark announced the arrest of a TSA agent and her boyfriend for the possession of 134 grams of marijuana in the city’s Northward.
According to authorities, at approximately 10:30 am, Saturday morning, officers received a tip from a citizen that two individuals driving a BMW would be traveling on Broadway with a large quantity of marijuana.
Officers from the 2nd Precinct stopped the vehicle and arrested TSA employee Shantyla Anderson, 33, and Al-Jalil Smith, 30, both of Newark after officers seized approximately 134 grams of marijuana from the car.
Anderson and Smith were both charged with Possession of CDS (Marijuana), Possession with the Intent to Distribute CDS (Marijuana), Possession with the Intent to Distribute CDS (Marijuana) within a 1000 feet of School Property, Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS (Marijuana) within 500 feet of Public Housing, and Conspiracy.
Anderson was written motor vehicle summonses for Unclear Plates, Unlicensed Driver, and Possession of CDS (Marijuana) inside a motor vehicle.
Police said Smith received a summons for Permitting an Unlicensed Driver to Drive.
Anderson’s Badge and Identification Card were confiscated after her arrest and TSA officials were notified.
These charges are mere allegations with the suspects being considered innocent unless convicted in a court of law.
