East Orange Woman Among Two Apprehended for Operating Illegal After Hours Establishment in Newark

Police arrested two suspects and closed an after-hours establishment located at 587 South Orange Avenue early this morning.

According to police, in response to citizen complaints, detectives from the Department's Special Investigation Bureau were tasked with investigating allegations that an after-hours establishment known as the Yhaib Loft was operating from the building's second floor.

Police said after entering the Yhaib Loft, Detectives observed alcohol being illegally sold, confirming the citizen's allegations. The Detectives arrested Anthony Olayoe, 48 of Newark and charged him with maintaining an unlicensed liquor establishment, unlawful possession of alcohol, and illegal sales of alcohol.

Detectives also seized numerous bottles of alcohol being used for the illegal sale of alcohol.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
