Firefighters made fast work out of a raging fire that ignited inside an apartment in the city.
Heavy fire in a two-story brick mixed occupancy building located in the 200 block of West St. George's Avenue had firefighters on the scene shortly after 5:30 p.m. where fire began destroying the insides of an apartment at that location.
The two-alarm fire had mutual assistance from Rahway, Roselle, and Cranford on the scene according to officials.
A search of the structure had no injured or trapped occupants as firefighters placed the fire under control in less than an hour.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
