Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that the Fugitive Apprehension Team (F.A.T.) has arrested Anthony Joana, 42, of Kearny for a shooting that occurred on Nov. 8th.
According to officials, at approximately 10:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Hawkins Street near Roanoke Avenue. At that location, a 48-year old male victim was shot at by a suspect after asking him to leave the property of a private residence. The suspect fled onto Hawkins Street after the shooting.
As a result of their investigation, detectives have determined that Anthony Joana is a suspect in this incident. The Honorable Marvin C. Adames, J.M.C., issued a $100,000.00 warrant for Joana’s arrest.
F.A.T. detectives arrested Joana today at his residence in Kearny. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.
