Today Passaic Mayor Alex Blanco admitting receiving $110,000 in payments from developers in exchange for directing federal housing funds to their projects.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark McCarren, two unidentified developers of the low-income housing developments received approximately $216,400 in housing and urban development funds in exchange for the payments.
According to city officials, an emergency meeting was going to be held to select an acting mayor .
Blanco in court today allegedly took responsibility for his actions by pleaded guilty to a single bribery charge.
Judge William J. Martini scheduled Blanco's sentencing for 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 23.
Blanco could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.
