A violent armed robbery that had a man shot in Newark's South Ward has police searching for a suspect.
According to reports, the incident happened in the 200 block of Goldsmith Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. where police were called to the scene after receiving reports of shots fired at that location.
Cops arriving to the scene found the man suffering a gunshot wound to the leg and stomach.
The victim was transported to University Hospital where his injuries were not reported as life threatening .
A preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was approached while in his car by the armed suspect and forced to remove his sneakers and pants before shooting him several times then running from the scene.
Newark Police are investigating.
