A brother and sister from Hersey City appeared in court this afternoon after being accused of striking North Bergen bartender in the head with a bat and bottle at a bar located on the 4400 block of Bergen Turnpike. The bartender was ultimately transported to area hospital for treatment.
During today's hearing, Judge Margaret Marley said that Luis J. DeLacruz, 20, and Nicole Castillo, 18, both of the 100 block of New York Avenue in Jersey City, have been charged with first-degree armed robbery and possession or consumption of an alcoholic beverage while under age.
Additionally, DeLacruz was also charged possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose regarding a baseball bat, attempting to rob the beer bottle, striking the bartender in the head, causing visible signs of injury to her forehead.
Castillo was charged with assisting her brother in attempting rob the bottle and in the process, striking the bartender in the back of the head with a bottle, also causing visible signs of injury.
Bail for Castillo and DeLaCruz was set at $75,000 each cash or bond when they appeared in Central Judicial Processing court in Jersey City today.
