Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announced today that the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating a fatal shooting.
Authorities said at approximately 7:20 p.m. yesterday, Michael J. Waters, 36, of Newark was fatally shot in the 100 block of Ridgewood Avenue in Newark.
He was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 7:50 p.m.
Authorities said, at this time, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been identified.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
