Commercial Robbery Leaves Suspect Shot in Irvington

Several rounds of gunfire rang out at a car dealership in Irvington late last night sending police to the scene investigating.

Police responded to the area of Clinton Avenue and Maple Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. where arriving units found a male victim, who was later identified as a suspect, attempted to rob the car dealership at that location.

The suspect reportedly entered the establishment armed with a weapon and announced a hold up when he was shot by an employee (identified as the owner) reports said.

The alleged suspect's injuries were not immediately reported as life threatening.

Police setup a crime scene in the area where they searched for and collected evidence.

Residence in the area said that the area has had continuous issues with noticeable loitering and open-air drug trafficking.

Police would not respond to requests for information.
