17-Year-Old Teen Shot in the Head Dies in Atlantic City

Law enforcement is investigating the shooting death early yesterday morning of an Atlantic City teenager, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton announced.

Atlantic City Police responded to the 1400 block of Magellan Avenue in response to several 9-1-1 calls, reporting that a male had been shot sometime around 2:49 a.m. Sunday.

Atlantic City EMS, AtlanticCare paramedics, and detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit also responded.

Upon arrival, police found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Campus, where he was later pronounced dead by Dr. Reece Alkire at 1:21 a.m.

An autopsy performed yesterday determined cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death: homicide.

Next-of-kin have been notified. The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department continue the investigation.
