Newark Police Search for Carjacking Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announces that a $250,000.00 arrest warrant has been issued for Omar Wright, 32, of Newark, in connection with a carjacking on Sunday.

Police said at pproximately 9 p.m., Newark Police responded to the area of Clinton Avenue and South 11th Street on a carjacking call.

A 31-year old male victim pulled over his vehicle, a 2006 Chevy Monte Carlo, to greet a friend when the suspect approached and assaulted him.

A second suspect exited a parked dark blue Dodge van and pointed a gun at the victim, who was robbed of his personal items and vehicle.

As part of their investigation, detectives have determined that Omar Wright is a suspect in this carjacking.

The Honorable Marvin Adames, J.M.C., issued the warrant for Wright’s arrest.

While police are actively searching for Wright, also known as “Dirty O” or “Ox”, are seeking the public’s assistance in quickly locating and removing him from our streets.
