Linden Police responded to Route 278 westbound at approximately 9:02 a.m. for a motor vehicle accident yesterday.
A 2002 freight-liner tractor and trailer was traveling west on Route 278 when it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and rolled over on its side. The truck damaged approximately 200 feet of guard rail.
The driver, Frances Rich, 40, of Burlington, was not injured and was able to get out of the vehicle.
As a result of the accident, a large quantity of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway, and the Linden Fire Department, Union County HazMat, and the state DOT responded to contain the spill.
The roadway was closed for several hours during the cleanup operation and removal of the tractor trailer.
Rich was issued a summons for careless driving as a result of the investigation.
