Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray have announced that authorities are investigating an incident in which a male was fatally shot in Irvington this afternoon.
According to authorities shortly before 1:30 p.m., Irvington police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Montgomery Street on reports of a shooting.
Arriving officers observed an unresponsive male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit.
The victim, who has been identified as Ronald Mayweather, age 32, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:18 p.m., according to Fennelly.
This incident is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force and the Irvington Police Department.
The investigation is active and ongoing at this time, according to Fennelly.
