Newark

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announces that Operation Broad & Market Streets, a quality of life initiative aimed at addressing drug sales in the area, has resulted in 15 arrests.

During the operation, in effect September 29th and 30th and October 3rd, officers confiscated 96 decks of heroin, 57 vials of cocaine and 45 Suboxone strips Director Ambrose said.

According to director Ambrose, of the ten individuals charged with Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS), four were for distributing and six were for purchasing.

The additional five individuals arrested had open warrants.

“These operations by the Newark Police Division will continue as part of our plan to make our city a safer place to live, work and play,” said Director Ambrose.

“We encourage everyone to take a zero tolerance approach by reporting any suspicious or criminal activity to ensure that Newark is at its finest.”
