Newark Police arrested Faith Edohen, 25, today for choking her premature, 8-week old twins—a boy and a girl authorities said.
According to police, at approximately 11:05 a.m., officers responded to a residence at Leslie Street near Clinton Avenue on a call of a woman choking her children.
Newark Police, with the assistance of an officer from the New Jersey State Police, located the mother in the residence holding both children in a "chokehold" position under her arms police said.
Officers struggled with the mother to retrieve the children from her after observing her tightening her grip and swinging the children around violently as they struggled to breathe.
The children and their mother were transported to University Hospital for treatment and are all in stable condition.
Edohen is charged with two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
These charges are merely accusations.
The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
