UPDATE: Man Arrested for Stealing Thousands from Newark Charter School

The Newark Police Division’s Fugitive Apprehension Team (F.A.T.) arrested Steven Hightower, 47, of Vauxhall, today for a burglary on September 15, 2016 at North Star Academy Charter School in Newark.

According to police, at approximately 11:25 a.m., officers responded to the school on a burglary call.

Cash had been stolen from two cash registers inside the school’s main office according to authorities.

As a result of their investigation, detectives determined that Steven Hightower is a suspect in the burglary.

Members of the F.A.T. located and apprehended Hightower at Burkley Place and Catherine Street in Vauxhall.

He was arrested without incident.

These charges are merely accusations.

The suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
