UPDATE: Newark Man Shot by Kearny Cop in the Parking Lot of Walmart

The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a shooting that injured a man at the Walmart in Kearny early this morning.

According to authorities, shortly after 8 a.m. today, a uniformed police officer discharged his weapon, striking **Ramon L. Martinez, 43, of Newark**, Suarez said in a statement.

Authorities said Martinez was transported to a local hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

Martinez has been charged with eluding police, receiving stolen property and shoplifting, while a second individual, **Diego C. Dosreis, 28, of Newark,** was also involved in the incident and has been charged with receiving stolen property, authorities said.

The police officer who was involved with the shooting was transported to the hospital for observation and released, authorities said.

The shooting is being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, which is standard protocol for police-involved shootings.

The prosecutor’s press release did not reveal what caused the officer to shoot the suspect.
