A violent overnight shooting left one person dead and one other injured in Elizabeth.
Multiple rounds of gunfire sounded off in the area of First and Court sometime around 11:40 p.m., sending more than a dozen police officers to the scene where they immediately set up a crime scene that extended up to the area of Court Street, according to reports.
Units canvassing the area located an unconscious and unresponsive victim suffering injury from gunfire. The victim died a short time later.
Two others were confirmed injured by officials but it is not immediately clear if the victims were injured by gunfire or injured as they attempted to run from flying bullets.
According to reports, several black male suspects, in a gold colored van, pulled up to the area and began shooting.
It is not immediately clear if the victim's were the intended target of the shooting at this time.
According to the Union County Prosecutor's Office, at this time they can confirm that their Homicide Task force is investigating the shooting.
The identity of the victims have not been released.
