An area resident foiled a residential burglary this morning in Roselle Park after noticing a suspicious male attempting to gain entry into a home and calling it in, according to police.
Roselle Park Police responded to the 100 block of Jerome Street after an alert neighbor reported a suspicious male attempting to gain entry through the first floor rear window of the home.
Upon arrival police, discovered a 17-year-old male from Hillside attempting to exit the residence from a side door.
He was subsequently taken into custody after he was found in possession of jewelry belonging to the burglarized home.
According to police, the teen was later charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.
He was served with a summons and released into the custody of his parent, awaiting court.
