The family of a woman who was struck and killed late last night in Newark has released her identity to RLS Metro Breaking News.
According to family members the woman is identified as **22-year-old Delilah Mercedes Ortega of Irvington**.
Authorities said at around 9:00 p.m., EMS rushed a victim to University Hospital who was struck by a vehicle while on a bicycle near the South Orange Avenue and Springfield Avenue.
Emergency responders arrived to the scene to find the victim unconscious and performed several life saving techniques authorities said.
Family members who described Ortega as a "beautiful soul" and " the life of the party", died a short time later at the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle reportedly stayed at the scene and frantically called emergency responders family members said.
Ortega is the second oldest of four siblings whose mother passed away when she was a teenager.
"Delilah was a great sister, and a "diamond in the rough". We will miss her dearly", family members continued.
