Police in Paterson are investigating a pursuit that ended in a crash with injuries reported overnight.
According to preliminary reports, police began to follow a vehicle in the city that refused to pull over for violating several traffic signals shortly before 9 p.m.
The suspected vehicle began to escalate speeds, leading cops to the area of East 30th Street and 14th Avenue where the vehicle slammed into a civilian vehicle, causing occupants, including the suspect, to become trapped in their vehicles reports said.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene where they extricated victims from the vehicles, then transported them to St. Joseph's Medical Center where their injuries were only reported to be serious as of early this morning.
A crash investigation team was called to the scene to determine the exact cause of the crash.
There were no reports of injured police officers.
